After attending The University of Texas at San Antonio, Maria quickly realized she is a strategist and builder at heart. She fondly looks back on her career and acknowledges her favorite moments were found when she was busy accelerating the brand recognition of the organizations she represented.
Being led by a servant’s heart, Maria openly shares her talents to further the mission of local non-profit, civic and trade associations. She currently serves on the strategic planning committee for the North San Antonio Chamber Innovative Leadership program – a six-month executive level training program she helped build from the ground up. Innovative Leadership isn’t the first program Maria aided the North SA Chamber in developing. She began her active involvement with the Chamber fifteen years ago when she co-chaired and served on the development committee for the CFO Forum, a knowledge series ATKG currently serves as title sponsor for. She also served as the 2008 Chair of the Chamber’s Leadership Lab program. When she’s not building or leading programs, Maria can be found presenting to groups on the latest marketing and brand strategies.
When Maria decides it is time to recharge her batteries, you can find her hopping onto a hiking trail somewhere. Although she enjoys the numerous trails found locally or just a day trip away, her all-time favorite hikes have been in Costa Rica, St. Lucia, and Vail, Telluride, and Keystone Colorado. When asked what she considers the cherry on her life-cake, Maria quickly responds “Being called RiRi by my grandson, Nolan, whom I affectionately refer to as my little angel”.
