Teryn
Grater

Partner
Teryn joined ATKG in 2001 after returning to the US from living overseas and traveling for a year in between.

Originally it was to help out a friend for a bit, but Teryn quickly realized what a great firm this was, refused to leave, and became a partner in 2003.

Teryn graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and then earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Manchester (UK). She honed her skills at Big Four firms both nationally and internationally and in industry working for a prior client’s family office but found her dream job when she became her own boss and surrounded herself with the great team at ATKG.

Teryn currently serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. With 30 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, real estate, oil and gas, closely-held businesses, family offices, retail and professional services, Teryn has a diverse range of experience in accounting, tax, and business advisory services. In addition, she enjoys using her strategic strength and being one of the creative drivers of change at the firm to find ways that ATKG can do things differently from its competitors.

Teryn is active in many organizations outside of ATKG. She is a current member and past board member of the San Antonio Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). She is also a past board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and served as chair of their Million Dollar Roundtable program. She is currently chairing a committee for the Association of Corporate Growth – Central Texas Chapter and served as Committee Chair for the 2019 Private Equity Two-Step event. Teryn is also on the board of Women’s Global Connection, an organization whose mission is to promote women’s learning and leadership capacity locally and globally. She has been on mission trips to Tanzania and Peru with the organization. Teryn’s leadership in these organizations comes full circle to ATKG, as Teryn is known for bringing ideas back to the company to keep things fresh, challenge us, and keep ATKG at the top of its game.

With her involvement as a partner at ATKG and in the community, Teryn still makes time for her favorite hobbies. She is an avid traveler and even lived in South Africa before joining ATKG. Her many world travels make for great conversation at firm happy hours! She can’t pick a favorite destination but says hiking in New Zealand and cocktails on a great beach top the list! Most importantly, however, she loves spending quality time with her two greatest accomplishments, her daughters Nicole and Natalie.
